the emergence of a global economy, design teams confront the challenges
of complex and continuously changing customer demands, rapidly improving
technology, newer emerging business models, and multi-faceted global
competition. Coincidentally, the recent turmoil in global financial
markets has caused a widespread decline in worldwide economic activity
adversely affecting many product and service sectors. The current dominant
sentiment being a decrease in spending, the new imperatives are price
sensitivity, cost optimization, energy savings, resource conservation,
market retention and diversification through innovative strategies.
It is necessary to rise to these challenges by motivating and improving
the effectiveness of new product development professionals by introducing
them to the state-of-the-art in their work covering the changing role
of People, Process and Technology and the best practices in Product
Innovation. The scope of this conference inter alia extends
over the Engineering, Medical, Pharmaceutical, Software, Advertisements
and Insurance domains. Contributions from academia and industry in the
